For the Mitchell family, the days ahead are filled with a kind of heartbreak that is difficult to put into words.

Parker Mitchell was only 11 years old when a Labor Day weekend go-kart accident sent him and his 8-year-old sister, Teagan, into a pond.

According to Kristen, family members and first responders immediately rushed to help both children and made every effort they could to save them.

Somehow, Teagan was able to free herself.

Parker could not.

Now, just days later, his family is preparing for his funeral on Wednesday.

The loss of a child is unimaginable. But for Parker’s parents, Jamie and Scott, there is another painful reality: their 8-year-old daughter was there when the accident happened and survived.

She now has to process not only what she witnessed, but the fact that her big brother is suddenly gone.

Teagan survived the accident.

She survived the pond.

But the emotional journey ahead may be one of the hardest parts of all.

Her parents are now facing two devastating responsibilities at once—mourning their 11-year-old son while trying to help their young daughter understand and cope with a traumatic loss.

Kristen says there were heroic efforts to save Parker, but despite everything family members and first responders did, he could not be brought home.

Wednesday’s funeral will undoubtedly be one of the most painful days the family has ever faced.

There will be the quiet house afterward.

The empty seat.

The familiar places where Parker should be.

Kristen described Jamie and Scott as people who are always among the first to show up when someone else is hurting.

The family is asking for prayers and support, particularly for Teagan as she begins navigating life without her older brother.
