12-Year-Old Axel Faces Cancer Again Just Seven Months After Ringing the Bell

‼️ SEVEN MONTHS AFTER CELEBRATING BEING CANCER FREE, 12-YEAR-OLD AXEL FROM LAREDO, TEXAS, IS FACING ANOTHER DEVASTATING CANCER BATTLE.

Axel had already endured more than most children could ever imagine.

He survived high-risk hepatoblastoma, went through months of chemotherapy and received a liver transplant. His tumor markers, which had once reached 83,000, dropped to just 5.

Then, on February 11, Axel rang the bell.

Cancer free.

For his family, it was the moment they had spent months praying for.

After his treatment ended in January, Axel was finally able to return home to Laredo, where he could hug his dad and siblings again and begin looking toward a more normal life.

Then something changed.

His knee began hurting.

Doctors discovered a mᴀss.

And in September, just days after Axel celebrated his 12th birthday, his family says he was transferred to Houston, roughly five hours away, to begin another intensive round of treatment.

According to his family, doctors have now found cancer in his bones.

It is a heartbreaking turn after everything Axel had already overcome.

His first cancer battle began in August 2025. His family initially noticed that he was unusually tired, had lost his appeтιтe and was developing swelling around his stomach.

They thought he might simply need vitamins or more exercise.

Instead, a pediatrician immediately recognized that something was seriously wrong and sent him to the hospital.

Doctors discovered a large tumor on his liver. His family says the cancer had also progressed toward his heart and lungs, beginning a frightening race against time.

Axel underwent chemotherapy and spent months in hospitals while his family waited for a liver transplant.

In December, their first possible donor organ could not be used because it was too large for his body.

Just three days later, another call came.

This time, there was a match.

Axel received his new liver and spent 11 days in the ICU recovering.

Then came the numbers his family desperately wanted to see.

His tumor markers dropped dramatically.

He completed chemotherapy.

And eventually, he rang that cancer-free bell.

But now, his family is back in Houston, facing another difficult chapter.

Yaz says Axel remains a gifted artist, a loving sibling and a silly, joking kid who continues to show the same spirit he had during his first fight.

Despite everything, he still has a simple dream.

He wants to beat cancer again and come home to his family.

His loved ones are asking for prayers—not only for Axel, but also for the doctors treating him, his transplanted liver and the entire family of six as they once again face separation and uncertainty.

🙏 Pray that Axel’s body is strong enough for treatment.

🙏 Pray that his doctors find the best path forward.

🙏 Pray that his transplanted liver remains protected.

🙏 And pray that this brave 12-year-old gets the chance to return home and make many more memories with the people he loves.

💙 Axel has already fought so hard. Now he needs his community standing beside him again.

What would you want this sweet boy to know right now? 🙏💙
