Michael and Paula Musgrove raised Lindsay in Connecticut

Lindsay grew up in Wallingford, Conn., and was raised by her parents, Paula and Michael Musgrove. She attended Lyman Hall High School and graduated in 2007, per the New Haven Register.

“They’re good people — good, hard-working, regular, middle class people,” a neighbor of the Musgroves’ John Roarke told CT Insider. “They took good care of their kids.”

Another neighbor Marlene Devaney described the area as “a great neighborhood bringing up kids.”

“Her parents are wonderful people. They’re very nice,” fellow neighbor Emily Ottens told the outlet.

Lindsay was a compeтιтive cheerleader in high school and continued the sport when she attended Quinnipiac University, per the Boston Globe. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology in 2012 before moving to Boston for nursing school.

Lindsay has one sister, Allison Ozga

Lindsay was raised in Wallingford alongside one sister, Allison Ozga.

Allison has kept a low profile but shared in court that she is a social worker who does not live in Mᴀssachusetts and hasn’t lived in the same state as Lindsay for 10 years, according to CBS News.

Although the sisters didn’t live near each other, Allison said that she has a close relationship with Lindsay.

Both Lindsay’s mom and sister testified that she was a “loving mother”

Both Paula and Allison were called to testify for the defense on Aug. 17. Allison took the stand first and primarily spoke about her sister’s mood in the months leading up to the killings. She recalled coming home for Thanksgiving in November 2022 and noticing that Lindsay “seemed off.”

By December of that year, Allison said Lindsay told her that she was in “a really tough spot” and was experiencing suicidal thoughts nearly every day.

“I do remember her saying at one point at the beginning of December, something along the lines that, ‘I’m in a really tough spot,’ and knowing what she had shared with me previously about how her mental health had been struggling, I had this gut feeling that something was off and that she was really struggling, and I asked her if she was safe,” Allison said, per WFSB.

She said that Lindsay told her she was safe and she didn’t feel the children were in danger. After Lindsay sought treatment at a mental health facility, she hosted a birthday party for Cora, which Allison attended. Although she felt Lindsay was “starting to feel better,” Allison also noticed her sister was tired.

Later that same day, Paula addressed the court and first testified about her daughter’s character. “She was a very good kid and an excellent student,” Paula said. “She always wanted to be a mother — to have many children. I always felt it was the best thing that happened to her.”

Paula went on to say that her daughter was a “loving mother,” who had also opened up to her about her declining mental health. In October 2022, Paula recalled a concerning text message from Lindsay that read, “Mom, will you please come up and stay with me for a bit? I’m really sick. Something is wrong. I had horrible insomnia all night, and I just don’t know how I am going to get through the day … It’s just really scary, and I don’t want to be alone.”

Two months later, Paula — who frequently stayed at her daughter’s home after receiving the text — said she was with Lindsay and Patrick when her daughter admitted that “she had thoughts of harming the children.”

Paula further recalled her daughter becoming “paranoid,” struggling to sleep and losing weight as part of her mental health struggles and medications. However, Paula also testified that she wasn’t worried about her grandchildren, because she was often with them and Lindsay appeared to be doing better.

Just a few days before the killings, Paula texted her daughter, “It’s nice to see you’re doing better,” even though she still had concerns.

“The text from me was meant to encourage her, because I didn’t think it did any good to discourage her,” she explained. “So the text was meant not necessarily what I observed that weekend, but it was meant to encourage her because I was encouraging her to do things with the kids to kind of try to get back to normal.”

Paula and Michael have supported Lindsay throughout the trial

Both Paula and Michael have been by Lindsay’s side from her arrest and hospitalization to her ongoing trial and even moved to Mᴀssachusetts to be closer to the court.

Ahead of her trial, Lindsay appeared in court for her first in-person appearance in February 2026. Her parents attended and shared a statement outside the courtroom.

“She’s a loving mother, she always will be,” Paula said, per CT Insider. Michael added, “We love our daughter very much and we’re here to support her in any way we can.”

One of their friends organized the Musgrove Family Fund via GoFundMe, which has raised over $1 million, as of August 2026.

“They have attended her court proceedings and relocated from their Connecticut home to Mᴀssachusetts so they can be close to their daughter,” the GoFundMe reads. “Paula is retired. Mike is a pH๏τographer. They have spent years absorbing the travel, lodging, and living costs required to remain close to their daughter, drawing down savings they spent a lifetime building. They have not walked away from their daughter, and they have never been unclear about why: they love her.”

The organizer clarified that “the purpose of this fund is to help Mike and Paula rebuild the financial stability they have sacrificed over these past three years.”
