๐ฅบ๐๐ญ SHE NEVER SAW HER SISTER AS DIFFERENT โ MAYLEE HAS ALWAYS SEEN FINLEE FOR WHO SHE TRULY IS ๐โจ
Long before Finlee June was old enough to understand why people sometimes stared, she already had someone who never needed an explanation:
her big sister, Maylee. ๐
Born with Treacher Collins syndrome, a rare condition affecting the development of the bones and tissues of the face, Finlee faced serious medical challenges from her very first days.
Her small jaw made it difficult to maintain her airway, so she needed a tracheostomy shortly after birth. She spent months in intensive care and eventually went home with breathing and feeding support, along with hearing aids. ๐ฅ๐
For her parents, every milestone was something worth celebrating.
But they never wanted Finlee’s medical needs or appearance to define who she was.

๐ท๐ญ TO MAYLEE, SHE WAS JUST HER SISTER
As the girls grew up, they shared the ordinary moments that make childhood special โ sitting together, wearing matching outfits, playing with toys and simply being there for one another.
To Maylee, Finlee’s trach and hearing aids were never something that changed who her sister was.
She was simply Finlee. ๐ฅน๐
Finlee has also helped others learn an important lesson about acceptance.
During a visit to Newberry Elementary, she met around 130 first graders who had read We’re All Wonders. She played catch, showed them she could walk and happily spent time being herself.
One child captured the message perfectly:
She does ordinary things, just like other little kids. ๐
๐โจ SEE THE GIRL, NOT THE DIFFERENCE
Finlee’s journey has included difficult appointments, medical challenges and many moments of uncertainty.
But surrounded by her family โ and especially by a sister who has always seen her as simply her sister โ she continues to grow, explore and move forward.
Sometimes, the greatest gift we can give someone is not asking them to be different, but simply reminding them that they already belong. ๐๐ท
And for Finlee, that message has been there from the very beginning โ in the love of her family and in the unwavering bond she shares with Maylee. ๐ฅบ๐ญ๐โจ
