❤️🙏 56 DAYS AWAY FROM HOME — AND THIS TINY BABY IS STILL FIGHTING

For 56 days, Patty Diaz has watched her tiny son fight through one frightening challenge after another, nearly 1,200 miles from their home in South Texas.

And tomorrow, she will have to watch him go into surgery again.

Luke Bryan was born on June 21st at just 30 weeks, after Patty developed life-threatening preeclampsia. He weighed only 3 pounds, 9 ounces.

Like many premature babies, Luke initially needed intensive medical care. But just when his family thought he was beginning to grow stronger, everything changed.

Luke suddenly became critically ill.

Doctors discovered that his intestines had twisted, a condition known as malrotation with volvulus. Patty was given devastating news: much of his bowel was no longer viable.

Luke needed specialized treatment, and he was flown from Corpus Christi, Texas, to Cincinnati on July 7th.

He has remained there ever since.

His journey has been filled with difficult moments.

His first surgery went well, according to his mother, but the recovery that followed has been extremely challenging. His bowel has remained at rest, a drain failed and his incision opened. He has also required blood transfusions, while frightening drops in his heart rate have added even more worry for his family.

Yet through all of those setbacks, Patty says there have been signs of hope.

Luke has been having more good days than bad.

Tomorrow, doctors plan to take him back into surgery to explore his bowel again, close the open wound and place new drains to help manage further complications.

For Patty, it is another terrifying moment.

But it is also another moment to hold onto faith.

“He has made it this far.”

Those words carry the weight of everything this little boy has endured.

Earlier in his journey, Patty shared that she believed God had carried Luke this far and that He was not finished with her son.

Nearly two months later, that belief remains just as strong.

Now, the family is asking people to pray again.

Pray that Luke’s heart rate remains steady.

Pray that there is no infection.

Pray that tomorrow’s surgery goes well.

Pray for the doctors caring for him.

And pray for Patty, a mother who has spent 56 days far from home, watching her premature baby face challenges no newborn should ever have to endure.

Luke’s story is still being written.

And for his family, every good day matters.

Every stable moment matters.

Every sign of progress matters.

After 56 days, Luke is still here.

Still fighting.
