The Voice UK is heading into a major new era after ITV confirmed a dramatically different line-up for its next series — and reports suggest the compeтιтion itself could also be getting a major format change.

After more than a decade on the famous red chairs, Sir Tom Jones is leaving the show, bringing an end to one of the programme’s longest-running coaching eras. ITV has confirmed that Series 15 will feature Cheryl and rapper Aitch as new coaches, joining returning stars Kelly Rowland and will.i.am.

But the changes do not stop there.

🚨 A NEW “LOCKDOWN” ʙuттON?

According to recent reports, producers are planning to replace the current Rewind ʙuттon with a new feature reportedly called the “Lockdown ʙuттon.”

The reported twist would come into play when all four coaches turn for a contestant.

Under the reported format, one coach could press the new ʙuттon and immediately secure the singer for their team — meaning the contestant would no longer necessarily reach the familiar stage where they listen to each coach’s pitch before deciding who to join.

If introduced as reported, the change could completely alter one of the most familiar moments of the Blind Auditions.

Instead of watching a singer choose between four coaches, viewers could find themselves waiting to see whether one of the coaches uses the Lockdown ʙuттon first.

💔 THE END OF THE TOM JONES ERA

Tom Jones’ departure has already become one of the biggest talking points surrounding the show.

The Welsh music legend joined The Voice UK when the programme launched in 2012 and became one of its defining coaches.

In a recent interview, Jones said he did not want to leave the programme, explaining that he loved the show and suggesting the decision was made by ITV.

ITV, meanwhile, officially thanked Jones for his years on the programme and for the “countless incredible and unforgettable moments” he brought to the show.

🎤 A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT COACHING PANEL

The next series will look very different.

Cheryl and Aitch are joining the panel for the first time, while Kelly Rowland returns for a second series alongside long-standing coach will.i.am.

The changes also follow the departures of Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher from McFly.

That means fans will be seeing a very different combination of personalities when the next compeтιтion begins.

🎬 AND THERE’S ANOTHER BIG CHANGE

The coaching panel isn’t the only part of the show being rebuilt.

Long-time presenter Emma Willis is also leaving The Voice UK.

ITV has confirmed that Alesha Dixon and Stacey Solomon will take over hosting duties for Series 15, giving the programme a two-presenter format.

The next series is scheduled to air in 2027.

With Tom Jones gone, two new coaches arriving, a new presenting team and reports of a new Blind Audition twist, The Voice UK could look very different when it returns.

The reported Lockdown ʙuттon may prove particularly controversial because it could change the moment when contestants traditionally have the final say over which coach they join.

For now, ITV has officially confirmed the new cast and presenting line-up, while the reported Lockdown format remains subject to further confirmation.

One thing is certain: The Voice UK is entering a very different chapter.
