💙🦾 TILLY LOCKEY LOST BOTH HANDS AS A BABY — THEN HELPED REDEFINE THE FUTURE OF BIONIC TECHNOLOGY ✨🌈

At just 15 months old, little Tilly Lockey faced a life-threatening illness that would change her life forever. 💔🏥

She developed severe meningococcal septicaemia, a devastating bacterial infection that caused extensive damage to her body. To save her life, doctors had to amputate both of her hands at the wrists, along with her toes.

Against all odds, Tilly survived. 🙏💗

But growing up without hands never stopped her from dreaming big.

As she got older, Tilly and her family began exploring the possibilities of advanced prosthetic technology. Around the age of 10 to 12, she became involved with Open Bionics, a company developing affordable 3D-printed myoelectric prosthetic arms known as Hero Arms. 🦾✨

The technology allowed Tilly to control her prosthetic hands using electrical signals generated by the muscles in her residual limbs.

But Tilly wasn’t simply a user of the technology.

She became part of its evolution. 💙

As one of the early users of Hero Arms, she tested newer versions and provided valuable real-world feedback that helped improve the design and functionality of the prostheses.

In 2019, Tilly received an incredible pair of Hero Arms inspired by Alita: Battle Angel, created through a partnership involving filmmaker James Cameron. 🎬🦾✨

Since then, she has continued working with increasingly advanced bionic technology designed to provide greater movement, strength, speed and functionality.

Today, Tilly is much more than a prosthetic technology pioneer. She is a model, motivational speaker, social-media personality and pᴀssionate advocate for disability inclusion and accessible technology. 🌍💖

Through her journey, she has helped challenge the idea that prosthetics are simply replacements for what was lost.

For Tilly, technology can also be a way to express yourself, explore your creativity and gain greater independence. 🌈🦾

She lost both of her hands before she was old enough to understand what had happened.

Yet instead of allowing that devastating beginning to define her future, Tilly turned her experience into something extraordinary — inspiring innovation and becoming a role model for people around the world living with limb differences. 💪💙
