When Jacqueline Rodriguez was born, doctors gave her parents heartbreaking news. She had a rare condition called lymphatic malformations, which caused large mᴀsses to develop across her face, tongue and chest. Doctors feared she might not survive her first year. 💔👶

But Jacqueline had other plans.

Sixteen years later, she is still proving them wrong. 🥹💙

Throughout her childhood, Jacqueline has undergone numerous surgeries. The condition has made speaking and eating difficult, so she communicates using an iPad and receives nutrition through a feeding tube. 🏥💗

Yet she has never allowed those challenges to stop her from living her life.

Jacqueline attends college, takes guitar lessons and even plays tennis for a local club. 🎸🎾✨

She has also faced hurtful comments and people staring at her because of her appearance. But rather than allowing those experiences to define her, she continues working on her confidence and reminding herself of what she can do.

“I’m a normal human being. I just have health issues like everyone else.” 💙

Her parents, Evelyn and Paul, were once told that their daughter’s quality of life could be very limited. Instead, they have watched her grow into a determined young woman with enormous dreams. 🌈

Now, Jacqueline has her eyes set on an even bigger goal:

Becoming a nurse. 🩺💗

Her dream was inspired by the nurses who cared for her throughout her childhood. Having spent so much of her life in hospitals, she hopes one day to be the person helping other patients through their own difficult journeys. 🥺🙏

Despite the fact that her condition has no known cure and the growths can return, medication has helped slow their progression and improve her ability to see and express herself. 💙

Her father says Jacqueline wakes up every day with a smile and an incredible determination to keep moving forward.

And Jacqueline isn’t giving up on her future.

She was once given months to live. Now she’s working toward a career helping others — showing that a diagnosis can shape your journey without deciding where that journey ends. 🌈✨

Her parents believe her future is bright.
