British Woman Charged After Partner Found ᴅᴇᴀᴅ at Villa in Thailand

A British woman has been charged with murder after her partner was found ᴅᴇᴀᴅ with multiple stab wounds at a luxury villa in Pattaya, Thailand.

Isabelle Violet Carreras, 20, from Stafford, was charged following the death of her 33-year-old British partner, whose body was discovered in the bathroom of the couple’s home.

According to Thai police, the man was found in a shower with stab wounds to his back, torso, and left hand. A pillow had been placed beneath his head.

Authorities said one of the victim’s friends contacted police after becoming concerned when he was unable to reach him by phone. The friend went to the villa and discovered the man’s body before alerting emergency services.

Police said Carreras was found beside the victim, crying.

Investigators reported finding blood-stained furniture throughout the villa, along with blood on bathroom tiles and cabinets. Several towels were also stained with blood, and officers allege there were signs that someone had attempted to clean parts of the scene.

A 20-inch knife recovered from the sink is believed to be the weapon used in the attack. Police said it appeared to have been wiped clean. Carreras was also found with cuts to her fingers, according to investigators.

During questioning, Carreras denied killing her partner and claimed he had taken his own life. She also told investigators that he had recently been using marijuana and had reportedly been taking large amounts of Valium.

Police Colonel Nattapon Phongsuksakul said investigators do not believe the evidence is consistent with suicide, citing the stab wound to the victim’s back.

Authorities have confirmed they are treating the case as a homicide rather than an act of self-defense.

Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the property and awaiting the results of the autopsy, forensic examinations, and DNA testing before completing the case file.

Police also said there is evidence that cannabis had been consumed and are investigating whether intoxication may have played a role in the events leading up to the fatal incident.

According to investigators, the attack is believed to have occurred at around 4 a.m. local time, although authorities were not notified until approximately 9:30 a.m.

While the couple was initially reported to be married, Thai police have not officially confirmed their marital status.

The U.K. Foreign Office said it is providing ᴀssistance to the families of the two British nationals and is in contact with local authorities as the investigation continues.
