The dramatic mistrial in the Lindsay Clancy case has left two very different lives unfolding in its aftermath.

While Lindsay Clancy remains in a psychiatric hospital with the criminal case against her unresolved, her former husband, Patrick Clancy, has begun trying to rebuild his life while continuing to grieve the three children they shared.

His first televised interview since the trial brought new attention to the family’s painful story — and to what may happen next in court.

AN 11–1 ᴅᴇᴀᴅLOCK

Lindsay Clancy’s six-week trial ended on September 4, 2026, after jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict.

The jury ultimately ᴅᴇᴀᴅlocked 11–1, with 11 jurors prepared to find Lindsay not criminally responsible because they believed she was experiencing postpartum psychosis when the children died.

The lone holdout disagreed with that conclusion and sided with prosecutors’ argument that Lindsay remained criminally responsible.

The judge declared a mistrial after nearly 40 hours of deliberations. The mistrial did not end the case, and Lindsay remains charged.

PATRICK CLANCY BREAKS HIS SILENCE

Weeks later, Patrick appeared on 60 Minutes for his first televised interview since the mistrial.

Rather than focusing solely on the courtroom battle, Patrick spoke about the person he remembered before the tragedy and the years of mental-health struggles that preceded it.

He described Lindsay as a “fun-loving” and outgoing person and said he had watched her mental health deteriorate after the birth of their youngest child.

Patrick told CBS that he first noticed serious changes in October 2022, including prolonged periods without sleep, depression and intrusive thoughts. He said he did not understand at the time how difficult postpartum illness could become.

One of the most striking moments of the interview came when Patrick was asked whether he blamed himself for what happened.

He said he believed he had done the best he could with the information he had at the time — while acknowledging that he continues to live with the consequences every day.

Patrick also spoke about the intense online scrutiny surrounding him.

Since the tragedy and throughout the trial, social-media users have circulated accusations and conspiracy theories about his role and his relationship with Lindsay.

Patrick said those theories have been deeply harmful, particularly because they distract from the children and from the broader issue of perinatal mental health.

A NEW LIFE AFTER AN UNIMAGINABLE LOSS

Patrick was joined during the interview by his wife, Dr. Rachel Danis.

The couple married in April and revealed that they are starting a family together.

They also spoke about how they hope to preserve the memory of Patrick’s three children — Cora, Dawson and Callan — as they move forward with their lives.

For Patrick, building a new life does not mean leaving his children behind.

He said he still talks to them and continues to carry their memory with him.

BUT THE LEGAL CASE IS FAR FROM OVER

The emotional interview comes as Lindsay’s legal future remains uncertain.

Her attorneys have asked the judge to dismiss the case rather than order a retrial. They argue that the court should have replaced the lone holdout juror with an alternate during deliberations instead of declaring a mistrial.

Her lawyers have also asked the court to investigate allegations concerning the juror’s conduct, including alleged cellphone use during deliberations and answers given on jury questionnaires.

The juror has not been accused of criminal wrongdoing, and prosecutors have not announced whether they intend to retry Lindsay.

A hearing is scheduled for September 29, when the next major steps in the case could become clearer.

TWO VERY DIFFERENT FUTURES

For Lindsay, the mistrial means the legal battle remains unresolved.

For Patrick, life has moved into a different and deeply personal chapter — one that includes grief, a new marriage and the possibility of welcoming another child.

But neither development erases what happened to Cora, Dawson and Callan.

The case remains one of the most closely watched criminal proceedings involving postpartum mental illness in the United States, while Patrick has repeatedly urged people to look beyond online speculation and focus on the broader issue of perinatal mental health.

For now, the courtroom has gone quiet — but the legal questions surrounding Lindsay Clancy are far from settled.
