The death of Caroline “Caro” Pena has shocked Del Rio after police accused three women of fatally attacking the 32-year-old mother of five. Pena was allegedly confronted by Kitty Mia Diaz, 21, Amaya “Cookie” Diaz, 19, and Kyandra Renee Faz, 21, at a home on E. 10th Street. Investigators say surveillance footage captured the encounter, including Amaya allegedly approaching Pena with a knife before striking her in the back. Police allege that Kitty and Faz later joined the confrontation.

Officers reportedly observed that the sisters were wearing different clothing and had wet hair. Arrest footage later showed the suspects smiling or smirking as they were escorted away. Pena was taken to a hospital before being transferred to San Antonio, where she died from her injuries hours later. Her five children, ages 3 to 16, are now being cared for by relatives.

Family members say the children have been devastated by the loss, particularly the youngest. All three suspects have been charged with murder, with each reportedly facing a $5 million bond. Authorities have not established a public motive, although Pena’s relatives said the women were known to one another.
