💙 11-Year-Old Texas Football Player Xavier Begins Cancer Treatment as Family Asks for Prayers

An 11-year-old Texas football player who recently captured the attention of thousands of people now has a diagnosis — and his family is asking for an army of prayers as he begins the next stage of his journey.

Xavier, from Comfort, Texas, has been diagnosed with metastatic malignant rhabdoid tumor, a rare form of cancer his family never imagined would become part of their lives.

Just days ago, Xavier’s family shared that what initially appeared to be leg pain connected to football had led doctors to discover multiple mᴀsses in his pelvis and another mᴀss in his chest. Lymphoma had initially been a major concern.

Now, the family has an answer.

But it is a diagnosis that has been incredibly difficult for them to process.

“This is so rare and unfortunate that our son just happened to be the one,” Xavier’s mother, Jessica, wrote. “This has been incredibly difficult to understand, why him, our sweet boy.”

Despite the devastating news, the family is holding тιԍнтly to a piece of encouraging information.

Jessica said doctors told them that Xavier’s organs appear healthy and untouched, something she believes gives his medical team hope as they begin treatment.

Xavier is expected to undergo approximately eight to 10 months of chemotherapy, ᴀssuming there are no complications.

His parents have also signed paperwork to pursue a second medical opinion, hoping another perspective might identify additional treatment possibilities or options for their son.

But beyond the diagnosis and treatment plans is an 11-year-old boy trying to understand something far bigger than himself.

Xavier is scared.

In a tearful video shared with supporters, he expressed graтιтude while showing the understandable fear of a child facing a serious illness.

And according to his mother, even during this frightening moment, Xavier remains concerned about his parents.

“He knows we’re scared and our sweet boy is still worried about us,” Jessica said.

His parents have reᴀssured him that he will not face the journey alone.

“We are here and he has an army ready to fight with him.” 💙

That army has already begun forming.

Thousands of people who first heard Xavier’s story before his diagnosis are now being asked to continue standing beside him as treatment begins.

His mother is asking for “immense prayers” that chemotherapy will work and that her son will overcome the disease.

The family is asking people to pray for successful treatment, for Xavier’s organs to remain healthy, for the second opinion to provide every possible option and for strength during the months ahead.

At 11, Xavier should be thinking about football games, middle school, friends and the ordinary adventures of childhood.

Instead, his family is preparing for months of treatment.

But they are refusing to give up hope.
