💔🕊️ Pregnant Mother of Two Killed in Missouri Home; Family Continues Call for Justice

WENTZVILLE, MISSOURI — A heartbreaking domestic violence case that claimed the lives of a young mother and her unborn twins continues to leave a lasting impact on family members, friends, and an entire community.

On the evening of October 31, 2024, BreAnna Johnson, a 28-year-old mother of two young boys, was fatally sH๏τ inside her home in Wentzville, Missouri.

At the time of her death, BreAnna was four months pregnant with twins and looking forward to expanding her family. Loved ones describe her as a devoted mother whose life revolved around caring for her children and building a future for them.

That future was tragically cut short.

According to investigators, BreAnna’s two young sons—just six months and seventeen months old at the time—were inside the home during the incident. Although neither child suffered physical injuries, authorities say they were exposed to a traumatic event that would forever alter their lives.

Court records indicate that the fatal shooting followed a history of alleged domestic violence within the relationship. Prosecutors stated that earlier on the day of the shooting, BreAnna had reportedly been struck by a phone thrown during an argument.

Following the incident, 41-year-old Darryl Tyson Jr. told investigators he acted in self-defense, claiming BreAnna had confronted him with a weapon.

However, prosecutors later presented forensic evidence that contradicted that account.

According to autopsy findings, BreAnna was sH๏τ multiple times in the back. Investigators stated that the trajectory and location of the wounds indicated she was either falling or already on the ground when some of the sH๏τs were fired.

St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney Joseph McCulloch said the physical evidence provided a clear picture of what occurred and did not support claims of self-defense.

As the case moved through the court system, Tyson ultimately entered an Alford plea in June 2026. Under such a plea, a defendant maintains innocence while acknowledging that prosecutors possess sufficient evidence to likely obtain a conviction at trial.

Tyson entered pleas to three counts of second-degree murder—one count for BreAnna Johnson and one count for each of her unborn twins—as well as one count of second-degree domestic ᴀssault.

The court sentenced him to 30 years in prison on the murder convictions and seven years on the á´€ssault conviction, with the sentences to be served concurrently.

For BreAnna’s loved ones, however, no sentence can restore what was lost.

They continue to remember her as a caring mother whose greatest joy came from her children and whose life ended far too soon.

Today, her story stands as a sobering reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic violence and the countless lives forever changed by one act of violence. 🕊️💔
