💔 Nashville Mourns the Loss of 12-Year-Old Damarion Morehead Following Downtown Shooting

The Nashville community is mourning the tragic loss of 12-year-old Damarion Morehead, who died after a shooting during an altercation in downtown Nashville on the evening of June 21, 2026.
According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, officers responded at approximately 7:30 p.m. to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Representative John Lewis Way and ᴅᴇᴀᴅerick Street, adjacent to the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.
When officers arrived, they found Damarion suffering from a gunsH๏τ wound to the head. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died despite lifesaving efforts.

Investigators say the shooting occurred during a confrontation involving several individuals in a public courtyard. According to police, the dispute escalated into a physical altercation involving 24-year-old Devin Orr.
Authorities allege that Orr produced a handgun during the confrontation and fired as people began to flee. Damarion, who was not identified as a participant in the dispute, was struck during the gunfire.
Police also stated that Orr allegedly admitted to hiding the firearm inside a city sewer after the shooting. Investigators later recovered the weapon as part of the ongoing investigation.
On June 22, officers arrested Orr at a residence on Fisk Street. He was booked into the Davidson County Jail on a charge of criminal homicide. The case remains under investigation as detectives continue reviewing surveillance footage, witness statements, and forensic evidence.
As loved ones grieve, they remember Damarion as a joyful, energetic boy who loved football, enjoyed music, and cherished spending time with family and friends.
His football coach, Kolt Peavey, said Damarion’s enthusiasm, determination, and positive atтιтude made him a valued teammate and a bright presence on and off the field.
