The world may remember Kaylee H๏τtle as Jia, the brave young girl who formed a remarkable bond with Kong in Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

But Kaylee’s legacy goes far beyond the MonsterVerse.

At just 18, she had already become an important voice for Deaf representation in entertainment, showing audiences that being Deaf was never a reason to limit a person’s dreams.

🌟 MORE THAN AN ACTRESS

Kaylee brought something deeply personal to Jia. As a Deaf actress from a multigenerational Deaf family, she helped make the character’s use of American Sign Language feel authentic and meaningful.

Her work also encouraged greater understanding of Deaf culture. During the production of Godzilla vs. Kong, Kaylee worked with her family and a consultant to translate the script into ASL, while members of the cast learned sign language to communicate with her directly.

Her message was simple but powerful: Deaf people can dream, create and achieve just like anyone else.

💙 A MESSAGE THAT REACHED BEYOND THE SCREEN

Kaylee once expressed her hope that Deaf young people would see her work and understand that they could pursue acting too.

That may be one of the most meaningful parts of her legacy.

She wasn’t simply representing a Deaf character on screen. She was showing young people that they could see themselves in major Hollywood stories — and perhaps imagine themselves becoming part of those stories one day.

🏃‍♀️ A LIFE FULL OF TALENT AND PᴀssION

Away from Hollywood, Kaylee was also remembered by her community as a student, athlete, performer, friend and classmate.

At the Texas School for the Deaf, she participated in athletics and the performing arts and was known for her school spirit. After her pᴀssing, the school established the Kaylee H๏τtle Memorial Student-Athlete Scholarship, designed to support future students who demonstrate qualities such as athletic achievement, performing arts involvement, leadership, perseverance and positive character.

In that way, her influence can continue through the students who follow her.

🕊️ HER LEGACY WILL CONTINUE

Kaylee’s time was far too short, but the impact she made was much bigger than the number of years she had.

She gave audiences a memorable Jia.

She helped bring Deaf representation to a global franchise.

She encouraged young Deaf people to believe in possibilities.

And she left behind a community that continues to remember her kindness, determination and talent.
