New Timeline Reveals Final Moments of NYC Grandmother Alisa Goods in Las Vegas

New details have emerged about the final hours of Alisa Goods, a 63-year-old New York City grandmother whose disappearance in Las Vegas ended in tragedy after her body was discovered in a drainage ditch near Harry Reid International Airport.

Goods, a mother of five and Upper East Side resident, had traveled to Las Vegas to visit a longtime friend. On August 8, she left her friend’s apartment to run an errand and visit a CVS pharmacy. She never returned. Her disappearance sparked a search involving relatives, police and members of the public, but nearly two weeks later, authorities made a heartbreaking discovery.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to a drainage ditch near Wayne Newton Boulevard and the Terminal 1 parking garage shortly before 2 a.m. on August 20 after receiving a report of a woman found there. The woman was confirmed ᴅᴇᴀᴅ and was later identified as Goods.

At first, there was considerable uncertainty about what happened after Goods left the CVS. The family had believed she may have taken a bus, but newer information has changed that timeline. Surveillance footage from the airport area showed that Goods continued walking toward the area where she was ultimately found.

The footage provided investigators with an important clue about her final moments. Police said video recorded on August 8 showed Goods falling down an embankment, getting back up and then collapsing again. No further movement was visible after that point. Because of the terrain, the location where she fell could not be seen from the nearby street, which helps explain why she remained undiscovered for almost 12 days.

More recent reporting has provided additional context about what the video appeared to show. According to Goods’ daughter, Kristen Goods, her mother appeared to be struggling in the heat and sat down before throwing the bag she was carrying over the embankment. She then went over the embankment herself and eventually collapsed. The family has said that this behavior was unusual for her, particularly because she had recently undergone several surgeries involving her legs that made walking more difficult.

The discovery of the surveillance footage has helped investigators establish a clearer timeline, but it has not answered every question surrounding Goods’ death. Authorities have not publicly released a final cause of death, and the family continues to wait for answers from the medical examination.

Another disturbing element of the case emerged while Goods was still missing. Her relatives said they began receiving messages from her cellphone several days after she disappeared. The messages reportedly asked for money, ᴀssistance with gas and eventually Bitcoin. Family members became increasingly concerned because some of the messages appeared inconsistent with the way Goods normally communicated and included references that raised questions about who was actually using the phone.

The suspicious messages initially fueled fears that someone else might have been involved in Goods’ disappearance. However, investigators have not publicly connected those messages to the circumstances surrounding her death. More recent reporting indicates police considered the person using the phone to be a separate “bad actor,” rather than evidence that the sender was responsible for Goods’ disappearance.

Goods’ longtime friend, Roger John, was not considered a suspect. He had been hosting her during her visit to Las Vegas and ᴀssisted with efforts to locate her after she failed to return. The family also traveled from New York and appealed publicly for information during the search.

The eventual discovery of Goods’ body brought an end to the search but left her relatives facing a painful new set of questions. A homeless man reportedly noticed the body near the airport and alerted parking attendants, who contacted authorities. Police later determined that the woman was Goods.

Her family has described the loss as devastating and thanked members of the public and the media who helped raise awareness during the search. They have also asked for privacy while they mourn and wait for more information about what happened.

The case has drawn particular attention because the surveillance footage appears to show Goods’ final movements, yet important details remain unresolved. The video establishes that she reached the area near the airport and collapsed on August 8, but it does not by itself establish why she went there, what caused her to fall or exactly what happened medically afterward.

As of the latest reports, the official cause and manner of Goods’ death have not been released. Her family is still waiting for the final medical findings, while investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and the discovery of her body.

For Goods’ children, grandchildren, relatives and friends, the search that began with hope has ended in grief. But the unanswered questions surrounding her final journey from a friend’s apartment to the airport area remain, leaving her family determined to understand exactly what happened to her.
