When Ava was born on November 29, 2021, her parents knew immediately that her first chapter would be very different from the one they had imagined. 💔

She arrived at just 30 weeks, weighing only 3 pounds.

Tiny and incredibly fragile, Ava faced medical challenges from the very beginning, including a grade 1 brain bleed and a diagnosis of congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV).

Instead of taking their newborn daughter home, her parents found themselves entering the unfamiliar world of the NICU. 🏥💗

For the next several weeks, their days were filled with monitors, medical updates, procedures, and endless waiting.

They watched every number on the monitors.

They celebrated every little gain in weight.

And they anxiously counted every apnea episode, hoping each day would bring another sign that their tiny daughter was getting stronger.

Ava initially needed CPAP to help her breathe for approximately two weeks.

Eventually, she was able to transition to a nasal cannula as her little body became stronger and needed less breathing support. 🙏

For her parents, watching their tiny baby go through medical treatment was heartbreaking.

But they never stopped believing in her. ❤️

And Ava kept surprising them.

Day by day, she adapted to treatment.
