🥺💗 HER EYE CHANGED COLOR — THEN HER MOM DISCOVERED A WARNING SIGN NO PARENT EXPECTS TO SEE 🎗️🙏

When Esmae was just five years old, her mother Elise noticed something unusual about her little girl’s eye.

They were on a family holiday in Costa Brava, Spain, when Esmae’s normally green-and-brown eye suddenly appeared much darker.

At first, Elise thought it might simply be from the swimming pool or chlorine. Her eye was also slightly bloodsH๏τ, so there seemed to be an innocent explanation. 💗

But after the family returned home, Elise noticed something that made her stop in her tracks.

When sunlight hit Esmae’s face, there was a strange white glow in her pupil. 😢

Her grandmother noticed it too.

Elise immediately took her daughter to an optician, and what followed changed their lives forever.

Esmae was urgently referred to Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre before being transferred to Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

On July 7, doctors gave the family devastating news:

Esmae had retinoblastoma, a rare form of eye cancer that primarily affects young children. 🎗️💔

Doctors explained that the tumor had reached stage E, an advanced stage where removing the affected eye was considered the only viable treatment.

For Elise and her partner Callum, the news was overwhelming.

Their little girl looked perfectly happy and healthy.

They never imagined something so serious could be happening inside her eye.

On July 18, Esmae underwent surgery to remove the eye.

But the heartbreak didn’t end there.

Tests on the removed eye found cancer cells in the optic nerve, meaning Esmae would need further treatment to reduce the risk of the cancer spreading.

Her parents were told she would need six rounds of intensive chemotherapy. 🏥💔

They were terrified.

They worried about everything their little girl would have to endure — from the difficult side effects of chemotherapy to what the treatment could mean for her future.

Doctors even discussed fertility preservation, and Esmae later underwent a procedure involving the removal of one ovary so that her future options could be preserved.

For a five-year-old child, it was an enormous amount to face.

But Esmae kept going. 💗🌈

She began chemotherapy on August 7.

Round after round, she endured treatment with a courage that amazed everyone around her.

And then came the day her family had been waiting for.

After six rounds of chemotherapy, Esmae completed her final treatment on December 7.

Her family celebrated with dancing, clapping, and even a visit from Santa. 🎅🥹❤️

For Elise, watching her daughter finish treatment felt like an enormous weight had finally been lifted.

Today, Esmae is back at school full-time.

She is described by her mother as a happy, healthy and beautiful little girl — a “sᴀssy little princess” who is finally getting to enjoy the childhood moments she missed while undergoing treatment. 👧💗✨

She continues to receive regular MRI scans as doctors carefully monitor her health.

And through it all, her mother has remained incredibly proud of her.

Esmae’s story also carries an important reminder.

Retinoblastoma can be difficult to recognize because children may otherwise appear completely well. One of the warning signs can be an unusual white reflection or “glow” in the pupil.

For Esmae, her mother’s decision to pay attention to one tiny change made all the difference. 🙏
