For the Glenn family, Stryker’s 11th birthday is so much more than another birthday.
It is a celebration of survival.
A celebration of hope.
And a reminder that sometimes, the future cannot be predicted by even the darkest prognosis. π₯Ήπ
Stryker was diagnosed with Tatton-Brown-Rahman syndrome, a rare genetic condition α΄ssociated with a range of medical challenges, including orthopedic problems, heart defects, seizures, and low muscle tone.
In 2017, doctors also discovered that he had Chiari malformation, a condition involving brain tissue extending into the spinal canal. He underwent surgery to relieve the pressure, but his medical journey was far from over. π₯π
When Stryker was just two years old, he began experiencing seizures and episodes of severe vomiting.
Then came 2019 β a year that would change his family’s life forever.
Stryker suffered a devastating seizure that led to aspiration and cardiac arrest.
His parents, Robby and Lindsay Glenn, desperately performed CPR on their little boy while fighting to keep him alive.
Eventually, medical teams were able to revive him.
But the lack of oxygen had caused a severe anoxic brain injury.
Stryker remained in a coma for more than five months.
And then came the news no parent ever wants to hear.
Doctors reportedly believed he might have only about one month left to live. π
But Stryker had other plans.
He survived.
When he finally emerged from the coma, his life had changed dramatically. The brain injury left him quadriplegic, and he needed continuous medical care and α΄ssistance.
His parents suddenly had to learn how to navigate a completely different reality β constant monitoring, medical appointments, therapies, and the uncertainty that comes with caring for a medically complex child. β€οΈβπ©Ή
But they never allowed that prognosis to define their son.
They kept showing up.
They kept caring for him.
And most importantly, Stryker kept going. ππ
Year after year, he continued to surpα΄ss the expectations surrounding him.
His medical needs remain significant, but his family has learned to treasure the moments that others might overlook:

At one point, his family had been warned that he might live only two to five years.
Instead, Stryker has reached 11.

For Robby and Lindsay, every additional year is precious.
Every birthday is a victory.
Every new day is another reminder that a frightening prediction does not always become the ending of a child’s story.
