A Texas family believed their daughter had overcome the greatest challenge of her young life. 💔

Now, they are facing another heartbreaking reality after learning that the same rare brain condition that nearly took her life has returned.

Seven-year-old Ka’Vayah, from Amarillo, Texas, was just four years old when she suddenly began suffering from seizures. Within hours, doctors discovered bleeding in her brain caused by a ruptured arteriovenous malformation (AVM)—a rare tangle of abnormal blood vessels that can rupture without warning. 🏥

She was rushed into emergency brain surgery, where doctors fought to save her life. Over the next two and a half years, Ka’Vayah endured multiple brain surgeries, including an exhausting 11-hour operation to remove the AVM and reconstruct part of her skull. She later required a permanent shunt to drain excess fluid from around her brain after developing complications. 💙

After years of surgeries and recovery, her family believed the hardest part was finally behind them. 🙏

But just days ago, an angiogram brought devastating news.

Doctors discovered that the AVM had returned, once again putting Ka’Vayah at risk of a life-threatening brain bleed. She is now preparing to begin radiation therapy in the hope of reducing the risk of another rupture. ⚠️

With all of her specialists located nearly four hours from home, Ka’Vayah’s family is now trying to relocate closer to Oklahoma City so she can receive the ongoing treatment and monitoring she may need for years to come. 🚗🏥
