A major law-enforcement operation in Florida has brought 163 missing children back to safety, in what officials described as the largest child-recovery effort of its kind in the state’s history.

Called Operation Statewide Shield, the five-day operation ran from August 17–21, 2026, bringing together state, local and federal partners to locate children ranging from just 2 months old to 17 years old.

The recoveries were spread across Florida, including 46 children in the Tampa Bay region, 41 in Miami, 32 in Jacksonville, 21 in Orlando, 12 in Fort Myers, 8 in Pensacola and 3 in the Tallahᴀssee area. Investigators also located children connected to cases in six other states, one U.S. territory and 12 countries.

Authorities said the children’s circumstances varied. Some had experienced abuse, neglect or exploitation, while other cases involved custody disputes, foster-care situations or children who had run away. Officials have specifically cautioned that the 163 children were not all connected to one trafficking organization.

After being located, children needing ᴀssistance were taken to designated recovery hubs, where they could receive support from child-welfare professionals, medical providers, social services and victim advocates.

The operation also resulted in arrests and ongoing investigations, with authorities indicating that additional cases may continue to develop.

For the families involved, the most important part of the operation is simple: children who had been reported missing were located, brought to safety and connected with people who could help them begin the next chapter. 💙🙏
