🚨 Five-year-old Blaine and 3-year-old Nathaniel “Nate” Baier were supposed to return home after a court-ordered visit in the UK.
🕊️ Instead, their father says he has spent months fighting across two countries to find them and make sure they are safe.

For Ben Baier, the past several months have been filled with unanswered questions no parent should have to face.

The 43-year-old father says he has not seen his sons, Blaine, 5, and Nathaniel “Nate,” 3, since March 2026, after a visit with their mother in the United Kingdom allegedly ended with the children not being returned.

The boys were born in the United States and had been living with their father near Denver, Colorado. Both children have autism, making familiar surroundings, consistent routines, education and appropriate support particularly important to their family.

Ben says his only priority is finding his sons and knowing that they are safe.

The children had traveled to the UK to spend time with their mother, Nishika Samaratunga, under arrangements involving the courts. The visit was intended to be temporary, with Blaine and Nate expected to return to their father afterward.

But when Ben arrived at the airport to collect them, the boys were not returned.

According to court documents, Samaratunga allegedly kept the children in breach of a Colorado court order. The matter remains the subject of ongoing legal proceedings, and the circumstances are being addressed through courts in both Colorado and the UK.

The dispute between the parents has been developing for several years.

Ben and Nishika married in 2020, and their relationship later broke down in 2024. In August 2025, Samaratunga sought permission from a Colorado court to relocate the children to London. That request was refused, and she returned to the UK while the boys remained in the United States.

A Colorado court later determined that Ben should be the children’s primary custodial parent, while allowing visits with their mother in England.

It was during one of those visits that the current dispute arose.

For Ben, the legal battle is more than paperwork and court dates. Every pᴀssing day means another day without seeing his children.

Questions continue to weigh heavily on him: Where are Blaine and Nate? Are they together? Are they receiving the support they need? When will they be able to return home?

The international nature of the case has made the situation particularly complex, involving custody arrangements, jurisdiction and the welfare of two very young children.

Proceedings remain ongoing in both countries as Ben seeks their safe return.
