🏈💔 Lake Travis Football Senior Odin Hensley Remains in ICU After Cardiac Arrest During Practice

A routine football practice suddenly became a terrifying medical emergency for Lake Travis High School senior and varsity football player Odin Hensley.

Now, his family is spending their days and nights beside him in intensive care, praying for his heart, brain and other organs to recover. 🙏🕊️

The emergency happened around 8 a.m. Monday during football practice at Lake Travis High School outside Austin, Texas.

Lake Travis football coach Hank Carter described what happened as a “serious health emergency.” According to KVUE, Travis County STAR Flight responded to the scene as Odin was taken for emergency medical care.

The remainder of Monday’s football activities was canceled following the incident.

A fundraiser organized for Odin’s family later shared additional details about his condition. According to the fundraiser, Odin suffered cardiac arrest and was airlifted to Dell Children’s, where he remains in intensive care.

His family says doctors are concerned about his brain and other organs, and at this point, they do not know what the outcome will be.

For his loved ones, the uncertainty is incredibly difficult.

Just moments before the emergency, Odin was a high school senior preparing for what should have been an exciting football season. Like so many student-athletes, he had been working toward the experiences that come with senior year—practices, games, teammates, school memories and the anticipation of what comes next.

Instead, his family suddenly found themselves facing an unimaginable situation.

His parents are now staying by his side and missing work because, for them, there is nowhere else they want to be.

Their focus is on Odin.

Their hope is that his heart will continue to recover and that his brain and other organs will respond to treatment.

The Lake Travis community is now rallying around the young athlete and his family.

For teammates and friends, the situation is a painful reminder of how quickly an ordinary day can change. A football practice that began like countless others suddenly became a moment that brought an entire community together in support of one of its students.

While Odin remains under medical care, his family is asking for prayers and support.
