Will Roberts, the Alabama teenager whose battle with stage 4 osteosarcoma inspired an enormous wave of public support, died on July 23, 2026, at age 15. His death followed an approximately 18-month battle with aggressive bone cancer that eventually progressed despite extensive treatment.
THE DIAGNOSIS THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
Will was diagnosed with stage 4 osteosarcoma on January 9, 2025.
Over the following months, he underwent intensive cancer treatment, including chemotherapy, radiation and major surgery. His treatment eventually included a procedure that allowed him to use a prosthetic limb after losing part of his leg to the disease.
Despite those efforts, the cancer continued to progress.
A STORY THAT REACHED THOUSANDS
Will became widely known earlier in 2026 after sharing an emotional video through his mother’s Facebook account asking for help accessing an experimental treatment.
The message spread rapidly online, bringing attention from people across the country. The public response helped connect Will’s family with doctors and ultimately enabled him to receive the experimental treatment DeltaRex-G in California.
His treatment journey took the family more than 2,000 miles from Alabama and involved repeated hospital stays and consultations with specialists.
THE FINAL STAGE OF HIS ILLNESS
In the days before Will’s pᴀssing, his family shared increasingly serious updates about his condition.
His mother said the cancer had progressed to his brain and was affecting his mental capacity. Family updates also described significant medical complications, including fluid buildup and pneumonia, as doctors worked to keep him comfortable.
As his condition deteriorated, Will’s parents made the decision to prioritize his comfort.
According to his mother’s account, doctors prepared to remove his oxygen support and increase sedation. Will died shortly afterward, surrounded by members of his family.
WHAT THE RECORDS CLARIFY

Will’s story ultimately became one of a young person facing an extraordinarily difficult illness while continuing to inspire people far beyond his hometown.
He was 15 years old when he pᴀssed away, but the story he left behind continues through his family, friends and the many people who followed his fight.
