More than six months after 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Tucson home, Sheriff Chris Nanos has addressed her daughter, Savannah Guthrie, and the public following the release of two ransom letters connected to the case.

Nancy disappeared from her Catalina Foothills home on January 31, 2026. Investigators believe she was taken against her will. Blood found inside the residence was later confirmed to belong to Nancy, while surveillance footage showed a masked person near the home around the time of her disappearance.

The newly released letters have become a major focus of the investigation. One demanded millions of dollars in cryptocurrency and claimed Nancy was being held for ransom. A second letter later claimed that she had died following her alleged abduction. Authorities have not confirmed that claim, and Nancy’s remains have never been found.

Sheriff Nanos’ latest video comes as investigators hope the letters will generate new information. Authorities are asking the public to pay close attention to the wording, spelling and unusual phrases used in the communications. Someone who recognizes the writing style could potentially provide an important lead.

Savannah Guthrie and her family continue to appeal for information and have offered a reward of more than $1 million when combined with the FBI’s reward.
