Remembering Christopher and Gihanna After a Case That Brought Heartbreak to a Community

A Nevada court has concluded the criminal case involving the deaths of 4-year-old Christopher Fox III and his 1-year-old sister, Gihanna Fox, bringing legal closure to a tragedy that forever changed the lives of their family and those who loved them.

On May 12, 2026, 38-year-old Jovan Trevino was sentenced to two consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole after pleading guilty to two counts of first-degree murder.

The sentencing comes nearly five years after the children’s deaths in Henderson, Nevada.

According to prosecutors, emergency responders were called to the family’s home on July 19, 2021, where Christopher and Gihanna were found unresponsive. Despite emergency efforts, both children could not be saved.

Investigators alleged that each child was drowned in a separate bathtub before Trevino left the residence. Authorities later located and arrested her in Arizona.

Court documents state that Trevino later told investigators she had consumed alcohol and taken a sleep aid before the incident. Investigators also recovered a handwritten note that became part of the evidence presented during the criminal proceedings.

In March 2026, Trevino entered guilty pleas under an agreement requiring life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, eliminating the need for a trial while ensuring the case reached a legal resolution.

Although the court proceedings have now concluded, they cannot lessen the profound loss experienced by Christopher and Gihanna’s loved ones.

At just four years old and one year old, the two children were only beginning their lives. Their futures, filled with milestones, laughter, and family memories, were tragically cut short.

The case has also prompted renewed conversations about protecting vulnerable children and recognizing when caregivers may be experiencing severe emotional or mental health crises. Child welfare advocates continue to emphasize the importance of early intervention, access to support services, and reporting concerns whenever a child’s safety may be at risk.

At the same time, they note that accountability through the justice system remains an essential part of responding to crimes involving children.

For family members, however, the legal outcome does not erase the grief that has remained since 2021.

Those who knew Christopher and Gihanna hope they will be remembered for the joy they brought into the lives of those around them rather than the circumstances that ended their lives.

Their memory continues to remind many people of the importance of protecting children, supporting families in crisis, and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to grow up in a safe and loving environment.

As this chapter of the legal process comes to a close, Christopher Fox III and Gihanna Fox remain at the heart of the story—two young children whose lives mattered deeply and whose memory will not be forgotten.

May Christopher and Gihanna rest in peace. 🕊️
