According to police records reviewed by ABC15 Investigators, the toddler was rushed to Mercy Gilbert Medical Center on Super Bowl Sunday after being pulled from his family’s swimming pool. Medical staff worked to save the child, but he was later pronounced ᴅᴇᴀᴅ by a physician.

However, newly released police reports and body camera footage have raised serious questions about what happened in the hours that followed.

According to the documents, Gilbert police officers present at the hospital repeatedly reported observing possible signs of life after the child had been pronounced ᴅᴇᴀᴅ. One officer wrote that a nurse stated, “I have a pulse,” prompting the officer to alert the attending physician.
