A new wave of attention has surrounded the Lindsay Clancy case as evidence from inside the family’s Duxbury home continues to shape the courtroom discussion.

Among the material presented during the trial were handwritten journals recovered by Mᴀssachusetts State Police. Prosecutors and defense attorneys read selected pᴀssages describing Clancy’s struggles with anxiety, sleep problems, motherhood and her relationship with her then-husband, Patrick.

The journal evidence became particularly significant because the defense has argued that Clancy was experiencing severe postpartum mental illness at the time of the 2023 incident. Prosecutors, meanwhile, have presented other evidence and testimony as they challenged that defense.

The writings offered jurors a look at Clancy’s reported state of mind in the months before the incident, while attorneys on both sides emphasized different portions of the material.

The trial later ended in a mistrial after the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict. As of the latest reports, prosecutors are considering whether to pursue a retrial.

The case therefore remains unresolved, and individual pieces of evidence should not be presented as proof of a conclusion that the court has not established.
