IOWA FATHER ARRESTED AFTER INFANT SUFFERS SERIOUS HEAD INJURIES, POLICE SAY

A Davenport, Iowa, father has been arrested after police alleged that his 7-month-old baby suffered severe injuries during an incident at an apartment in July.

According to investigators, Laserdrick Dashaun Fowler was holding the infant when the child pulled his hair. Police allege that Fowler reacted by throwing the baby into a metal doorframe. The infant was found unresponsive and required emergency medical treatment before being transported to an Iowa City hospital in critical condition.

Doctors reportedly identified a brain bleed and multiple skull fractures. Fowler was subsequently charged with felony child endangerment resulting in serious injury and was being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond, according to jail records cited by local media.

The allegations remain part of an ongoing criminal case, and Fowler is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

The case has drawn attention to the vulnerability of infants and the importance of immediate medical and protective intervention when a child suffers unexplained serious injuries.
