The Real Reason Our Yorkshire Farm Ended — And How Amanda and Clive Owen Found a New Chapter

For millions of viewers, Our Yorkshire Farm was more than a television programme. It offered a glimpse into the demanding life of shepherdess Amanda Owen, her husband Clive and their nine children as they worked on Ravenseat Farm in the Yorkshire Dales.

But in 2022, after five successful series, Channel 5 confirmed the show would not return. The decision came months after Amanda and Clive announced their separation following more than two decades together. The end of their marriage and the changing circumstances of family life marked a major turning point for the much-loved television family.

In 2023, Clive spoke publicly about the breakdown of their relationship, acknowledging that he had contributed to its difficulties. Despite their separation, the former couple made clear that raising their children and continuing their farming responsibilities remained important priorities.

Their story, however, was far from over.

From Separation to a New Beginning

In 2024, Amanda, Clive and their children returned to television in Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids. Rather than revisiting the circumstances of their separation, the series follows the family as they take on a major challenge: restoring a centuries-old, derelict farmhouse known as Anty John’s, near their home at Ravenseat.

The renovation is far from straightforward. The remote location, unpredictable Yorkshire weather and demands of restoring a historic building have made the project a substantial undertaking. The family are working to transform the property into a home for their future, while continuing to manage everyday farm life and the needs of their nine children.

Their return to television has also shown that Amanda and Clive can continue working together despite no longer being a couple. Their relationship has changed, but their shared responsibilities as parents and farmers remain central to the family’s story.

By autumn 2026, the fourth series of Our Farm Next Door was bringing viewers further into the renovation, including plans for the farmhouse interior and the family’s ongoing work at Ravenseat.

The end of Our Yorkshire Farm was therefore not the end of the Owen family’s television journey. Instead, it marked a transition into a different chapter — one shaped by separation, family commitments and an ambitious restoration project.

For longtime fans, the appeal remains much the same: the rugged Yorkshire landscape, the realities of farming and a family adapting to change while trying to build a future together.
