PART 2: THE SECRET HIDDEN BENEATH THE MANSION

Richard stared at his son.

“What did you see in the basement?”

The little boy began trembling.

Elena gently held his hand.

“It’s okay. You’re safe now.”

The boy looked at his father.

“Mommy told me never to go downstairs.”

Richard turned toward Victoria.

“What is in the basement?”

“Nothing,” she said quickly.

Richard’s voice became colder.

“Then you won’t mind showing me.”

Victoria didn’t move.

That was enough.

Richard immediately ordered the security staff to unlock the basement.

Victoria suddenly panicked.

“Richard, please! Don’t go down there!”

He stopped.

“Why?”

She had no answer.

The basement door opened with a heavy creak.

Richard walked down the stairs with Elena beside him.

At first, there was nothing unusual.

Then they heard a faint sound.

A soft knocking.

Three times.

Richard followed the noise to a locked storage room.

“What is this?”

Victoria appeared at the top of the stairs.

“Richard, stop!”

He turned.

“Open the door.”

She shook her head.

“Please.”

Richard broke the lock.

The door swung open.

Inside were boxes of documents, pH๏τographs—and dozens of letters.

All addressed to Richard.

He picked one up.

The first line made his heart stop.

“Richard, if you’re reading this, Victoria has finally discovered that I survived.”

He looked at Elena.

“What does this mean?”

Elena slowly picked up another pH๏τograph.

It showed Richard years earlier with a woman he had believed was ᴅᴇᴀᴅ.

His hands began shaking.

The woman was the mother of his son.

Richard turned toward Victoria.

“You told me she died.”

Victoria began crying.

“She was supposed to.”

Silence filled the basement.

Then Richard noticed one final pH๏τograph.

It showed the woman standing beside a little girl.

On the back was a date.

And beneath it, four words:

“Our daughter is alive.”

Richard looked toward his son.

Then toward Elena.

For the first time, he understood why Victoria had tried so desperately to silence everyone.

The boy hadn’t accidentally witnessed a secret.

He had discovered the secret that could destroy the entire family.
