🥺💗 SHE WASN’T EVEN TWO — BUT HER SHORT LIFE LEFT BEHIND A LASTING LEGACY OF LOVE 🌈🕊️

When Mary Kate’s family first noticed one of her eyes beginning to droop, they had no idea that such a small change would lead to a heartbreaking medical journey. 💔

Born three weeks early and the family’s first daughter, Mary Kate was a tiny girl whose smile could brighten every room. But when her eye continued to worsen, her parents sought medical care and second opinions, hoping to find an answer. 🏥👶🏻

Then an MRI revealed devastating news: doctors had discovered a tumor involving her brain and spine.

Mary Kate was diagnosed with Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor (ATRT), a rare and aggressive cancer affecting the brain and spinal cord. 🎗️💔

Her treatment was intense. She underwent 3 brain surgeries, 86 chemotherapy infusions, 107 nights in the hospital, 25 sedations and 50 blood transfusions. She also received high-dose chemotherapy with stem cell transplants at UCSF. 🙏🏥

And yet, through all those difficult days, Mary Kate still found moments to smile and laugh. She even took her first steps at home — a precious milestone her family will always remember. 🥹👣💕

Sadly, the cancer continued to progress. After further treatment and a prolonged seizure, her family learned that their time together might be far shorter than they had hoped.

Mary Kate pᴀssed away peacefully on November 22, just four days before her second birthday. 🕊️💗

But her family chose to carry her love forward.

Through MK’s Tiny Toys, they now honor Mary Kate’s memory while supporting the Mary Kate Funk Foundation and families facing childhood cancer. 🎀🙏

Her life was far too short, but the love she gave was not.
