A Kentucky couple has been arrested and charged following the death of a 1-year-old boy who lived in severely neglected conditions. Authorities say the child choked on July 27, 2026, while under the care of his mother’s boyfriend inside a garage filled with trash and waste.

Deavan Williams, 22, of Allen County, is facing a murder charge in connection with the death. The boy’s mother, Alexandrae Price, also 22, has been charged with child abuse. Both are being held at the Allen County Detention Center and were scheduled to appear in court on August 12.

According to court documents, Williams was the only adult present with the toddler on the day of the incident. Investigators say the child consumed portions of a soiled diaper and subsequently choked. Williams told police he had fallen asleep while supervising the boy. He also acknowledged that the child had previously put soiled diapers in his mouth on other occasions.

When the boy was taken to a local hospital, medical staff observed signs of trauma, including bleeding from the mouth and bruising on his body. These findings prompted further investigation into the circumstances of his care.

A search of the property revealed that the child had been living primarily in an un-air-conditioned garage. Officials described the space as containing large amounts of trash, discarded beer cans, soiled diapers, and a strong presence of animal urine. The playpen used by the toddler sat directly on a contaminated floor. Investigators reported finding animal waste, sewage, and other hazardous materials in the area where the child spent time.

During interviews, both Williams and Price acknowledged the poor state of the living environment. They noted the presence of flies, spiders, high moisture levels, and inadequate ventilation. The couple also stated that the child had been bathed using an outdoor hose and expressed surprise that he had not developed parasites given the surrounding conditions.

Authorities stated that Williams had knowingly subjected the young child to extreme endangerment and cruel conditions. Court records further indicate that the boy had been given extremely spicy foods despite objections from his mother, and that he routinely put unsafe objects—including diapers and pieces of furniture—into his mouth.

The case has drawn attention to the prolonged exposure of a very young child to an environment that posed serious risks to his health and safety. Investigators continue to examine the full circumstances leading up to the toddler’s death.
