Stella Parton did address public concern about her sister Dolly’s health in October 2025, but the verified story is more measured than the dramatic version circulating online. Stella said Dolly was dealing with kidney stones and receiving treatment, while also explaining that their sister Freida’s request for prayers had been motivated by concern rather than knowledge of a life-threatening condition. 

The situation became public after Dolly postponed her Las Vegas performances and missed a Dollywood event because of health issues. Freida’s emotional message asking people to pray for Dolly caused additional concern, but she later clarified that she had not intended to make the situation sound more serious than it was. Dolly herself then reᴀssured fans that she was receiving medical care and said there was “nothing major” to worry about at that point.

Dolly also explained that after her husband Carl Dean’s pᴀssing in March 2025, she had neglected some aspects of her own health while dealing with the loss. She said doctors were addressing several issues and that she needed to stay closer to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.

Looking back now, those comments have taken on a much more poignant meaning. Dolly later faced a serious illness and pᴀssed away on August 25, 2026, at age 80. But it would be inaccurate to claim that Stella publicly revealed a hidden, life-threatening diagnosis in fall 2025. The information available at the time described kidney stones and other health concerns, while Dolly herself repeatedly reᴀssured the public.
