🥺💙 ONLY TWO KNOWN CASES IN THE WORLD: BABY VINNIE WAS BORN WITH ONE EYE AND A RARE CRANIOFACIAL CONDITION

When little Vinnie James entered the world, his parents, Grace and Rhys, were overjoyed to finally meet their baby boy. 👶💙
But moments after his birth, doctors realized something was very different.
Vinnie had been born without one eye, with one ear positioned differently, and with a smaller jaw. He also struggled to breathe on his own and was rushed to the NICU for specialist care. 🏥💔
Doctors later diagnosed him with Goldenhar syndrome, an exceptionally rare congenital condition affecting the development of the face, ears and eyes. ✨

What makes Vinnie’s case even more extraordinary is that he is reportedly one of only two children in the world known to have Goldenhar syndrome without an eye. 🥺💙
By just three months old, Vinnie had already undergone countless medical procedures, scans and tests. Doctors also discovered that he had sleep apnoea, requiring a tracheostomy so he could breathe through a tube in his neck. He is fed through a nasogastric tube as well. 🏥🩺
For his mother, watching her tiny son endure so much has been incredibly difficult. But Grace says Vinnie has shown remarkable strength from the very beginning. 💪👶
“He’s amazing,” she says. “He’s such a strong-willed baby.”
Vinnie now travels regularly to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London to begin the lengthy process of receiving a prosthetic eye. 👁️💙

Because he is still so young, specialists are gradually increasing the size of the prosthetic device so that the eye socket can develop appropriately before he eventually receives a permanent prosthesis. ✨
The frequent trips have placed additional financial pressure on the family, prompting friends to organize a fundraiser to help with travel and other expenses. ❤️🙏
Through everything, Vinnie’s six-year-old sister has also become a little caregiver. After spending 65 days in hospital, Vinnie finally came home, and his sister has been helping with his daily care whenever she can. 🥹👧💕
His journey is far from over, but Vinnie has already shown an incredible amount of courage for such a little boy. 🌈💙
Born into an extraordinary medical journey, Vinnie continues to prove that strength can come in the smallest of packages. 👶✨💙
