37 Seizures in Just 12 Hours: 10-Year-Old Kaylie Faces Brain Surgery as Her Family Holds On to Hope

Ten-year-old Kaylie is facing one of the most frightening moments of her young life. After experiencing 37 seizures in just 12 hours, the little girl is now preparing for brain surgery as her family desperately hopes she can remain stable long enough to reach the operating room.
Kaylie has lived with significant medical challenges since birth, including epilepsy, hydrocephalus, and a PIK3CA gene mutation. Her mother, Tammy Hammond, has spent years carefully monitoring her daughter’s health and advocating for the medical care she needs.
Earlier this year, Tammy requested another MRI after continuing to feel that something might be wrong. When Kaylie finally underwent the scan in June, doctors discovered a tumor in her cerebellum, the part of the brain involved in balance and coordination.

Doctors scheduled surgery for August 24 to remove the tumor. But in the days leading up to the operation, Kaylie’s condition became increasingly concerning.
Her seizures suddenly intensified, reaching a terrifying number in a single day. On the worst day, Kaylie experienced 37 seizures within 12 hours.
Medication was given in hopes of bringing the seizures under control, while Tammy prepared for the possibility that they might need to leave immediately for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, approximately six hours away.
For a mother watching her child go through something so frightening, the uncertainty has been overwhelming.
Tammy reached out to her community with a simple request: please pray for Kaylie. She has seen countless people come together to support other children facing serious medical challenges, and now she is asking that same community to stand beside her daughter.
The family is hoping Kaylie’s seizures will settle and that her body will get the rest it desperately needs before surgery.
They are also praying that she will make it safely through the operation, that the surgeons will be guided throughout the procedure, and that Kaylie will have the strength to face everything that lies ahead.

For Tammy, every pᴀssing hour carries both fear and hope. She cannot take away her daughter’s pain or endure the surgery in her place—but she can remain beside her, advocate for her, and remind her that she is never fighting alone.
Thirty-seven seizures in 12 hours is an unimaginable ordeal for any child. Yet Kaylie’s family is refusing to let fear have the final word. They are holding тιԍнтly to hope and believing that their little girl can make it through this difficult chapter.
