One routine pregnancy appointment changed everything for Oliver’s parents. At just 22 weeks, doctors noticed that his head and facial features were not developing as expected, but even specialists struggled to determine the reason.

When Oliver was born, the extent of his condition became much clearer. He had an extraordinarily rare congenital condition that left parts of his skull and eyelids underdeveloped — something his medical team had reportedly never seen before.
