ππΆ BORN WEIGHING JUST 540 GRAMS, BABY COOPER CONTINUES TO FIGHT WITH INCREDIBLE STRENGTH AFTER OPEN-HEART SURGERY β€οΈπ₯

When Cooper entered the world nearly 12 weeks early, he weighed just 1 pound 3 ounces (540 grams)βsmall enough to fit in the palms of his parents’ hands.
Delivered by emergency cesarean section, the tiny newborn was rushed to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where he has spent every day of his young life surrounded by doctors, nurses, and the unwavering love of his family.
More than five months later, Cooper has reached an incredible milestone, growing to over 10 poundsβa moment his parents once only dreamed of. Yet despite his remarkable progress, his medical journey has remained anything but easy.

For over 150 days, Chris and Christa have made countless trips between home and the hospital, spending nearly every possible moment by their son’s bedside while he continues to receive intensive medical care.
Recently, doctors discovered that Cooper’s condition was more complex than first believed. A cardiac catheterization revealed that he would need open-heart surgery to repair a ventricular septal defect (VSD), commonly known as a hole in the heart.
During testing, Cooper also experienced a serious pulmonary hypertension crisis, leaving his family anxiously waiting as doctors worked to stabilize him.
Last week, surgeons successfully completed the delicate heart operation.
Although doctors hoped to remove his breathing tube the following day, Cooper’s tiny body wasn’t quite ready. He remains on a ventilator while recovering, giving his heart and lungs the time they need to heal.
Even so, there have been encouraging signs.

His oxygen levels have remained stable, he has gradually required less respiratory support, and his medical team has slowly begun reducing some of his medications in preparation for another attempt at independent breathing.
Cooper also continues to battle pulmonary hypertension, a condition that makes breathing especially difficult for many premature babies. To provide the highest level of specialized care, he is now being transferred to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where doctors will continue guiding his recovery.
“We’ve celebrated every ounce he gains, every good day, and every tiny step forward,” his parents shared. “Cooper has taught us more about strength than we ever imagined.”
They added, “There have been incredibly difficult moments, but he keeps showing us how determined he is. We dream about the day we finally bring him home.”
For now, Cooper’s journey continues one milestone at a time.
While most babies his age are discovering the world from the comfort of home, this tiny fighter continues to prove that courage isn’t measured by size. With every breath, every ounce gained, and every new victory, Cooper reminds everyone around him that even the smallest hearts can carry extraordinary strength. πβ¨
