According to Melissa, doctors carefully reviewed his medical scans before delivering devastating news. They explained that no further medical treatment could reverse the damage, and the focus of care had shifted from recovery to keeping Ruben as comfortable as possible.

As Ruben’s next of kin, Melissa says she has been entrusted with making one of the most painful decisions any child could face.
