Family Argument Turns ᴅᴇᴀᴅly in Georgia: Husband Accused of Killing Wife and Daughter During Domestic Dispute

A tragic domestic violence case has left an Oxford, Georgia, family shattered after authorities say a heated argument escalated into a ᴅᴇᴀᴅly shooting that claimed the lives of a wife and daughter inside their home.

According to investigators, 63-year-old Ralph Mincey has been charged with two counts of murder and a weapons offense following the fatal shooting of his 57-year-old wife, Jennifer Mincey, and 37-year-old daughter, Amanda McBrayer.

Deputies say the violence unfolded after a family disagreement involving concerns about Mincey’s care of his elderly mother. Investigators believe the confrontation intensified as emotions rose and alcohol contributed to the escalating conflict.

Authorities say several family members were inside the residence when the argument began, including Amanda McBrayer and her husband. According to law enforcement, Amanda’s husband made a frantic 911 call after realizing the situation had become dangerously volatile. He reportedly fled the home with their children in an effort to protect them while requesting immediate emergency ᴀssistance.

Witness statements indicate that Amanda confronted her father during the dispute. Investigators allege that at one point Ralph Mincey threatened that he had a gun and would “pull the trigger,” transforming what had begun as a verbal confrontation into a life-threatening situation.

According to deputies, Amanda McBrayer was fatally sH๏τ in the head. Investigators say the violence continued when Jennifer Mincey was also sH๏τ after attempting to intervene during the confrontation.

Authorities later received a second 911 call that investigators say came from Ralph Mincey himself. According to law enforcement, he admitted to shooting both his wife of 38 years and his daughter using a nine-millimeter firearm. Officials say Mincey reportedly told the dispatcher that he had “snapped” after feeling overwhelmed during the argument.

Emergency responders arrived at the home and confirmed that both Jennifer Mincey and Amanda McBrayer had died from their injuries.

The tragedy has deeply affected the Oxford community, with many reflecting on how quickly unresolved family tensions can escalate into irreversible violence. Domestic violence experts have long warned that arguments involving explicit threats and the presence of firearms can rapidly become ᴅᴇᴀᴅly, emphasizing the importance of recognizing warning signs before conflicts spiral out of control.

As the criminal case moves forward, investigators continue reviewing witness statements and physical evidence to fully reconstruct the events leading up to the shootings.

For the surviving family members, however, no investigation can undo the devastating loss. What began as a family argument ended with two loved ones gone forever, leaving children, relatives, and an entire community to cope with a tragedy that will never be forgotten.
