“Yusuf is a little cutie pie,” says his mum, Iram—and anyone who meets him would agree. His bright, joyful smile has a way of warming every heart. 💙

Yusuf is one of around 6,000 children in the UK born each year with a syndrome without a name—an extremely rare condition that remains undiagnosed. Although doctors know his illness is life-limiting, Yusuf continues to face each day with incredible resilience. ❤️

His health challenges became apparent during the very first week of his life. At first, Yusuf appeared to be a healthy newborn, but after returning home, he rapidly lost 10% of his body weight.

For Iram, the signs were heartbreakingly familiar.

Just two years earlier, she had lost her son, Musah, to an undiagnosed condition with similar symptoms.

“I just knew something wasn’t right,” she recalls. “I could feel it.”

When Yusuf was admitted to the hospital, the same consultant who had cared for Musah examined him. Before a single word was spoken, Iram understood the devastating news.

“I looked at her, and she simply nodded. She didn’t have to say anything. My whole world stopped.” 💔

Despite the heartbreaking diagnosis, Yusuf has continued to surprise everyone with his determination.

Although his condition will eventually lead to kidney failure, he remains an active and happy little boy. He feeds well, sleeps through the night, and brings endless joy to those around him.

“He’s doing really well,” Iram says proudly. “I’m so proud of him.” 💙

In early 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Yusuf’s family found an invaluable source of support through Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Since then, the hospice has become a place where Yusuf can simply enjoy being a child.

He loves hydrotherapy sessions, family swimming, music therapy, and creative Stay and Play activities that fill his days with laughter and discovery. 🎨🏊🎵

“There really isn’t anywhere else like Acorns,” Iram says. “We swim together, enjoy messy play with other children, and create artwork that now covers our refrigerator. I love showing it to family and friends.” 🖼️❤️

Seeing Yusuf smile while enjoying activities he couldn’t safely do at home means everything to her.

“It may seem like a small thing,” she explains, “but spending time together, filling his day with happiness, means the world to me.”

For Iram, Acorns offers something even more precious than specialized care.

It gives her the chance to simply be a mum.

“Acorns gives us memories and time together,” she says. “For a little while, I don’t have to focus on his condition. He’s simply my son, enjoying his day.” 💙

Yusuf’s journey reminds us that even in the face of uncertainty, love, laughter, and precious moments together can create memories that last a lifetime.
