Newly obtained police dash cam footage is shedding additional light on the night 4-year-old Javeayah Harris was reported missing, offering a closer look at the initial response before investigators uncovered what they later alleged was a far more tragic situation.

The video reportedly captures events from the evening of June 30, when authorities were dispatched to a home on Hillsborough Street following a 911 call reporting Javeayah missing. At the time, responding deputies believed they were searching for a child who had recently disappeared.

According to the footage, the first deputy arrived shortly before 8:50 p.m. and immediately began gathering information while speaking with family members outside the residence. Additional deputies soon joined the effort, spreading across the property with flashlights as they searched the yard, surrounding areas, and nearby locations.

Neighbors also reportedly came outside to ᴀssist, hoping to help locate the missing child. As the evening progressed, law enforcement expanded the search beyond the property, moving into nearby wooded areas and along dirt roads in an effort to find Javeayah.

The footage also reportedly shows Johmarea Harris arriving at the residence later that evening and speaking with deputies as investigators continued gathering information and coordinating search efforts.

At the time, authorities treated the situation as an urgent missing-child investigation. However, as the case developed over the following days, investigators began uncovering evidence that led to a dramatic shift in the direction of the investigation.
