Parents were stunned when their baby was born with major limb differences—but Forrest’s first year has been filled with love and milestones

Like most expectant parents, Brandon Rudd and Alexandra Seaman dreamed of welcoming a healthy baby into the world. Nothing during the pregnancy suggested that their journey would be anything out of the ordinary.

Throughout Alexandra’s pregnancy, routine checkups were reᴀssuring, and there were no major concerns. She chose not to have routine prenatal ultrasounds, and everything appeared to be progressing normally.

After her due date pᴀssed without labor beginning, Alexandra returned to her doctor at 41½ weeks for an ultrasound to check on the baby.

It was then that doctors discovered their son had significant limb differences and was in a breech position.

Because of the unexpected findings, the couple’s plans for a home birth changed, and Alexandra underwent a cesarean delivery.

On September 10, baby Forrest Wayne Rudd was born.

He arrived without both legs and his left arm, and his right arm had also developed differently.

Although his limb differences came as a complete surprise, Forrest was otherwise healthy.

Doctors were unable to determine why his limbs had developed this way, leaving his parents with many unanswered questions.

The emotional days that followed were incredibly challenging as Brandon and Alexandra adjusted to a future they had never imagined.

Instead of asking why, Alexandra found herself praying for something simple—that her son would always be surrounded by love, kindness, and acceptance.

“My prayers were not only heard, but answered,” she later shared. “People loved Forrest exactly as he is.”

Support soon poured in from family, friends, and complete strangers. The community embraced Forrest with compᴀssion, offering encouragement, prayers, and countless acts of kindness that helped his parents through the difficult early months.

“We received hugs from so many strangers,” Alexandra said. “They reminded us that God is good.”

As the months pᴀssed, Forrest continued to grow stronger and reach new milestones, proving that his limb differences would never define his joyful spirit.

On September 10, he celebrated his first birthday surrounded by the people who have supported him from the very beginning.

Today, Forrest is a happy, healthy little boy whose story reminds others that every child deserves to be celebrated—not because they are the same as everyone else, but because they are uniquely themselves.
