The Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of student-athlete Kaylee H๏τtle, who was preparing to begin her senior year this fall.

In a heartfelt statement, TSD Athletics honored Kaylee as one of the most accomplished athletes in the school’s history, celebrating not only her remarkable achievements on the track but also the determination, leadership, and inspiration she brought to those around her.

Kaylee quickly established herself as a standout hurdler during her freshman season. On April 6, 2024, she set a new school record in the girls’ 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.87 seconds, before breaking her own record just one week later with a 51.82. That same season, she captured the 2024 TAPPS 4A District Championship, earned third place at the TAPPS 4A South Regional Meet, and finished sixth at the TAPPS 4A State Championship.

Her accomplishments extended beyond state compeтιтion. Following her freshman year, Kaylee was selected as one of only five TSD student-athletes chosen to represent Team USA at the 2024 World Deaf Youth Athletics Championships in Taipei, Taiwan—an honor that reflected her talent and dedication on the international stage.

Kaylee continued to raise the bar throughout her high school career. As a sophomore, she shattered her own school record with a remarkable 48.21-second performance while also setting a Berg and Seeger Classic meet record. She went on to finish second at both the district and regional championships before claiming third place at the TAPPS 4A State Championship in Waco, finishing less than one second from the state тιтle.

During her junior season, she once again rewrote the record books, posting a 48.20-second performance at the Berg and Seeger Classic in Riverside, California—establishing both a new school record and another meet record. She later qualified for the TAPPS South Regional Meet, narrowly missing another appearance at the state championships by just 0.38 seconds.

Over three seasons, Kaylee recorded 18 top-three finishes in the 300-meter hurdles, including seven first-place victories, cementing her place as one of the greatest hurdlers in TSD Track & Field history.

Her impact extended far beyond track and field. Kaylee proudly represented TSD in basketball and cross country, earning admiration for her work ethic, perseverance, and compeтιтive spirit. Coaches, teammates, and classmates remember her as someone who inspired others through both her athletic accomplishments and her character.

As the TSD community grieves this tremendous loss, Kaylee H๏τtle’s legacy will endure through the records she set, the teammates she encouraged, and the countless lives she touched. She will be remembered not only as an exceptional athlete but also as a cherished member of the Ranger family whose influence will continue to inspire future generations.
