HE STILL HASN’T BEEN BROUGHT HOME… Weeks after Ja’Derrius Minnieweather vanished, volunteers continue searching woods, canals and abandoned properties across Baton Rouge. One unexpected development is now keeping the search alive…
Man accused of beating missing teen to death, arrested for indecent behavior with juvenile

The agonizing wait continues for the family and loved ones of 15-year-old Ja’Derrius Minnieweather, whose tragic disappearance has deeply shaken the community of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Weeks after the young boy vanished from the Foster and Winbourne area, a neighborhood known colloquially to residents as Ghost Town, his physical body has still not been recovered. Despite a mountain of forensic proof and a formal first-degree murder charge being filed against 51-year-old Maurice Robbia Parms, the suspect has maintained a strict wall of silence, refusing to provide investigators with the final location of the teenager. This defiance has left search efforts entirely reliant on forensic tracking, technological innovation, and the pure physical endurance of hundreds of volunteers.

The operation has grown to a mᴀssive scale, with the Baton Rouge Police Department, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, and civilian search organizations methodically scouring nearly one thousand acres of challenging terrain. Searchers are actively working through dense, swampy bayous, heavily wooded terrains, and local landfills where commercial waste is processed. However, a critical technical breakthrough regarding the suspect’s vehicle data has recently injected renewed momentum into the case, keeping the search alive and providing teams with highly targeted coordinates.

The sequence of events that led to this mᴀssive search operation began on the evening of June 4, when Minnieweather rode his bicycle to a residence on Bradley Street to visit a 16-year-old girl who was a close childhood friend. Upon his arrival, the girl was not home, having been taken out to get food by Parms. When Parms and the young girl returned to the residence, an immediate, highly charged verbal dispute broke out between the teenager and the older man.
