Super Bowl Robert Rochell winner who says 2023 car crash ruined his career signs for Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs have signed free-agent cornerback Robert Rochell to a one-year deal.

On Friday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Rochell reached an agreement with Kansas City after spending last season with the Green Bay Packers. The value of his deal was not disclosed.

Rochell’s career started well after he was selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. The Central Arkansas Product appeared in 11 games and started in five.

Unfortunately, he was on injured reserve late into his rookie campaign. Since his first year, Rochell failed to find his footing on defense and got released by the Rams in their final roster cuts in 2023.

After Los Angeles, Rochell bounced between practice squads in Seattle and Carolina before signing with Green Bay. He was a swinger between the Packers practice squad and active roster for the past season and a half.

Despite playing just one defensive snap for the past two seasons, Rochell’s contribution to the special teams kept him on teams’ radars. In 11 games for Green Bay, he was part of 121 snaps on special teams.

Earlier this year, Rochell took legal action against the people he says are responsible for a 2023 car accident that caused him serious injury and stunted his career.

In a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County, which was obtained by TMZ Sports, the 26-year-old said he was driving along the Hollywood Freeway in his $100k Mercedes GT 63 AMG in February 2023 when he was hit by a speeding vehicle.

Nearly two years later, Rochell sued three people involved, including the alleged driver.

According to the suit, Rochell fractured his elbow, hurt his knee and head, and suffered nerve damage alongside other bumps and bruises.

Furthermore, Rochell pointed out how he was a key contributor to the LA Rams’ 2022 Super Bowl victory, and the crash derailed his NFL career.

After the accident, Rochell says he was forced to miss the team’s offseason training and part of the training camp.
