Pacers guard Bennedict Mathurin has been suspended by the NBA for one game without pay due to “inappropriate contact and verbally abusing a game official” during Tuesday’s 127-117 home loss to the Cavaliers.
Mathurin, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, took out his frustration on referee Natalie Sago after a being called for a foul on Cleveland big man Evan Mobley in transition with less than four minutes to play in the fourth quarter — and the Cavs leading, 120-111.
The 22-year-old followed Sago and clapped his hands while he addressed her with profane language, according to the league’s statement Wednesday.
