The large-scale search for 44-year-old Angelica Brophy has been suspended in California, but the investigation into the missing mother and emergency room nurse remains active.

Angelica was reported missing to the Oceanside Police Department on July 6, 2026, at around 9:30 p.m. Investigators later determined that her last known location was Harrah’s Resort in Valley Center at approximately 3:30 p.m. that afternoon.

About 50 minutes after leaving the resort, Angelica entered Palomar Mountain State Park after purchasing a parking ticket. Three days later, on July 9, her vehicle was discovered inside the park — but Angelica was nowhere to be found.

Her vehicle’s discovery prompted an extensive search involving the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue unit, California State Parks, Oceanside Police and other agencies.

Teams searched throughout the surrounding area, including a nearby pond. Dive teams from California State Parks and the Port of San Diego Harbor Police also joined the effort, but Angelica was not located.

Investigators also tried to determine her whereabouts through her cellphone. On July 8, detectives contacted her mobile carrier in an attempt to obtain location information, but the effort was unsuccessful because the phone appeared to be turned off or had no remaining battery.

As the investigation continued, detectives developed additional leads and carried out three more searches inside Palomar Mountain State Park based on information they received.

Still, Angelica remained missing.

On July 22, authorities announced that coordinated ground searches inside the state park had been suspended after extensive efforts. However, police emphasized that the investigation itself remains active.

Detectives are continuing to follow credible leads, review available information and work with Angelica’s family in the hope of determining what happened after her last confirmed movements.

Investigators have also stressed an important point: there is currently no evidence indicating foul play in Angelica’s disappearance.

For her loved ones, however, the uncertainty remains incredibly difficult. Family members and community supporters continue sharing Angelica’s information and encouraging anyone who may have seen her or noticed something unusual around the time she disappeared to come forward.

The nature of the investigation may have changed, but the search for answers has not ended.

Angelica is still missing, and authorities have not provided a definitive explanation for what happened to her.

For her family, hope remains that a single overlooked detail, credible tip or newly developed lead could eventually bring them closer to finding Angelica. 🕯️💙
