💛🔔 Only 295 Days Until the Bell: Young Cancer Fighter Kolten Inspires Thousands With His Courage

For most seven-year-olds, life is filled with school, friends, and endless adventures. For Kolten, every day has become part of a remarkable journey defined by courage, resilience, and hope.

In the fall of 2024, Kolten was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). He began chemotherapy on December 2, starting a battle that would challenge both his strength and the unwavering faith of his family.

Soon after treatment began, Kolten developed a severe Viridans streptococcal infection that affected both his heart and lungs. According to his mother, Whitney Groover, his condition deteriorated rapidly.

During one of the most critical periods of his journey, Kolten was admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, where he faced multiple cardiac emergencies. He required a ventilator, battled kidney complications, and relied on ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) to temporarily support his heart and lungs while doctors worked tirelessly to stabilize him.

A major milestone came on New Year’s Day 2025 when the ECMO machine was successfully removed. Just days later, however, Kolten suffered another setback after experiencing a stroke affecting the left side of his brain, temporarily limiting movement in his right arm and right leg.

Despite every obstacle, Kolten has continued to make inspiring progress.

His family recently shared encouraging news, saying he has responded well to treatment over the past several months. Although chemotherapy was briefly paused after a common cold caused his blood counts to fall below the level needed to safely continue treatment, they remain hopeful it will resume following upcoming medical evaluations.

The family’s next hospital visit carries special meaning, as it falls on the birthday of Kolten’s beloved grandmother, whom they lovingly believe continues to watch over him throughout his journey.

Beyond hospital rooms and treatment schedules, Kolten is looking forward to the simple milestones every child deserves.

This year, he is preparing to begin kindergarten—a moment his family describes as an incredible blessing after everything he has overcome.

He is also excited about a week-long trip to Santa Rosa Beach this September. According to his mother, the beach is one of Kolten’s favorite places, and the family hopes it will give him joyful memories to treasure.

The milestone everyone is counting down to, however, is even more meaningful.

If everything continues according to plan, Kolten is expected to ring the hospital bell on May 4, 2027, marking the completion of his chemotherapy treatment—a tradition celebrated by childhood cancer survivors around the world.

With only 295 days remaining until that unforgettable moment, Kolten continues to inspire thousands through his courage, perseverance, and unwavering smile.

His journey has included unimaginable challenges, remarkable victories, and countless reasons to keep believing.

Through it all, one thing has never changed: Kolten’s determination to keep moving forward.

His family, friends, and supporters now look toward the future with hope, believing that the little boy who has already overcome so much is ready for a new chapter—one filled with kindergarten, beach adventures, precious family moments, and, at long last, the joyful sound of a bell celebrating a battle bravely fought.

💛🔔 Every day brings Kolten one step closer to that unforgettable ring—and countless people are cheering him on every step of the way.
