💙🌈 A Little Fighter’s First Step to School: Laila’s Inspiring Journey 📚✨

For many families, a child’s first day of school is a joyful milestone. For Laila’s family, it once felt like an impossible dream. 💙
Born with cerebral palsy and blindness, little Laila has faced extraordinary challenges since before she entered the world. During pregnancy, she suffered severe bleeding and was born prematurely in critical condition. Her parents feared she might not survive.
But Laila proved she was a fighter. 💪❤️
She spent 148 days receiving specialist care across five different hospitals before finally being strong enough to go home.
From that moment on, life changed completely for her family.

Caring for Laila became a full-time responsibility. Sleepless nights, constant medical needs, and endless worries became part of everyday life. Her mum, Liga, rarely had a moment to herself and struggled to imagine trusting anyone else with her daughter’s care.
“When you have a child with complex needs, your mind never stops thinking about all the things that could happen if you’re not there,” Liga explains.
Everything began to change when the family received support from Acorns Children’s Hospice Outreach Team. 💙
Outreach Nurse Laura gradually built a trusting relationship with both Laila and her family, providing professional care at home while helping Laila become comfortable meeting new people in a safe, familiar environment.

The support also gave Liga something she hadn’t experienced in years—peace of mind.
“It’s been life-changing,” she says. “For the first time, I can step away without constantly worrying.”
The Outreach Team has done far more than provide medical support. They have helped with appointments, cared for Laila at home, and surrounded her with warmth, affection, and encouragement.
“She absolutely loves all the cuddles,” Liga says with a smile. ❤️
Today, thanks to months of preparation through regular daycare visits, Laila is getting ready for a milestone her family once believed might never happen—starting school this autumn. 📚🎉
“I was terrified of sending her to school,” Liga admits. “But they promised they would help prepare her, and now she spends a whole day at daycare every month. Because of Acorns, I’m actually looking forward to her first day.”

Even so, Liga laughs that she may still find herself waiting nervously outside the school gates until her daughter comes home.
Looking back, she says her outlook on life has completely changed.
“Before, I worried about ordinary things. Now we simply live one day at a time, and every day feels like a blessing.” 🌸
For Liga, her partner, their son Davis, and little Laila, the support they have received has become irreplaceable.
“We couldn’t imagine life without Acorns,” she says. “They’ve become like family. There’s simply no one else who offers this kind of support—not just for Laila, but for all of us.” 💙
Laila’s journey is a beautiful reminder that with love, patience, and the right support, even the dreams that once seemed impossible can become reality.
Sometimes the biggest victory is taking that very first step through the school gates. 🌈📚💙
